The Email

An email from Leech...

Leech and I were bandmates since 2007. There were 5 of us in a group. We jammed in his studio a lot but nothing really comes out of it. Plus the fact that we have work and have different time schedules. However, inspite of this, we were able to record a couple of songs eventhough they are not quality recording. It never really mattered but we also like to think BIG especially if you put time and effort in creating lots of your own songs. But of course, we don't do this for a career. We just love playing, and making music! Who knows, we might end up being BIG!

Our original songs were mostly done by my collaboration with Leech. I write the lyrics and he makes the music. What amazes me are the times when we meet up for a jam and he would let me hear his music compo and I would end up singing my lyrics into it. In 5 minutes, we made an original!!!

I am an optimist. I worry a lot but I still look at things positively. So I thought about "Remote Recording". Since vocals are always recorded the last, I can record my part at my HS friends' recording studio. I thought no one would ever even try... I love music and no one can stop me from making one. So I picked up my guitar, started playing, and make a new song. And I did! The same night while Melvin is busy reviewing for his exam. I sent the demo to Marco, and he actually made a great music with it! The song "Why" was recorded the day before Halloween.

November 2, 2009.

I got an email from a bandmate, Leech. Three phrases "sample lang"; "let me know kung pwede na to"; "did all the instruments in a studio". I was excited!!! Three phrases made me jump for joy. I scanned all my writings and collaborated them with the music on that very instant. I didn't do anything the whole day but work on that first song. Called up Marco. Drove to bay area that very weekend and recorded it. That same night, I sent all files to Leech.

November 10, 2009.

Another email from Leech. Mixing was done and our very first quality song entitled "UNFAIR" has been recorded. Copyright 2009. Our first work done remotely...

That email is the start of a new "musical" journey. Wherever it may lead us, I am grateful that I took it with someone who also believes.

"Thanks Leech for believing."
